BioSpherix validates new Dry Eye System in collaboration with Ichor Life Sciences

Parish, NY, USA, August 2025: BioSpherix, LLC (Parish NY) has announced the launch of its new Dry Eye System, engineered to deliver precise low relative humidity (RH) control for in vivo research applications.

Designed specifically for low-humidity research models, the system offers dependable RH control in the 30% to 15% range, with tighter, faster regulation than traditional and homemade setups. This added control enhances experimental reproducibility, and minimizes variability and environmental artifacts, ultimately delivering higher data fidelity that is critical for RH-sensitive studies.

“We designed this system to solve the exact challenges researchers face in RH-sensitive models: tight control, humane conditions, and scalability without sacrificing performance,” said Ahmed Mustafa, President and CEO of BioSpherix.

To validate the system’s performance, BioSpherix partnered with Ichor Life Sciences, a leading ophthalmology and drug development contract research organization (CRO) based in Syracuse, NY. Leveraging Ichor’s expertise in translational research, the companies collaborated with a research laboratory to conduct an in vivo dry eye study using the new system. The results underscore the system’s effectiveness in maintaining precise, low-humidity conditions for dry eye research and other RH-sensitive applications.

Pre-clinical dry eye models are notoriously finicky due to poor control over environmental conditions like relative humidity. We piloted the BioSpherix Dry Eye System using the scopolamine-induced murine dry eye model as a turn-key solution for environmental control. Variability within the model was markedly reduced. We are overwhelmingly impressed with the system quality and responsiveness of the BioSpherix team, and are validating the system for use in a variety of pre-clinical ocular applications.” Says Kelsey Moody, CEO of Ichor Life Sciences.

The BioSpherix Dry Eye System provides laboratories with a commercial-grade, cost-effective alternative to homemade setups, offering reproducibility, efficiency, and confidence in study outcomes. More information on the study’s approach and results will be available in an upcoming release.
